The William Paterson University College of Education offers a wide range of challenging and rewarding undergraduate and graduate degree, certification, and endorsement programs.

 

The College of Education, which is accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP), serves as a major resource for schools and school districts by preparing teachers, counselors, and administrators to advance in the profession.

 

The College’s programs and courses prepare students for increasingly high standards of performance expected within contemporary school systems and agencies.

 

Position Summary:

 

Reporting to the Dean, this position is responsible for the oversight and coordination of accreditation and educational innovation initiatives, particularly grant-funded projects, within the College of Education (COE).

 

The Director works collaboratively with the Dean, Associate Dean, Director of Education Enrollment and Certification, Director of Field Experiences, department chairpersons, faculty, other University personnel, external constituents, funding entities, and organizations to further educational program reform, assessment, and research on program/grant outcomes.

 

The Director of Accreditation and Educational Innovation serves as the first point of contact for accreditation related matters and works in consultation with the Dean to help ensure that program innovations and external funding opportunities support WP and COE Strategic Plan initiatives.

 

Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

 

  • Directs and coordinates all aspects of accreditation, from data collection through reporting.
  • Collaborates with the Dean, Associate Dean, other professional staff, faculty and external agencies to further educational reform and implementation of College and University Strategic Plan initiatives.
  • Secures grants in which the Director serves in project management capacities that entail 25% of time with requisite compensation by funder.
  • Works collaboratively with professional staff and faculty within the COE and across colleges and departments within the University to develop and implement initiatives at both undergraduate and graduate levels for continuous improvement and in accordance with accreditation requirements.
  • Represents the COE on University committees, at meetings with school partners, grant partners, and local, state, and national agencies or organizations.
  • Plans, organizes and leads with timely follow-though detailed, complex projects for accreditation-related matters and grant seeking opportunities.
  • Monitors reporting requirements for accreditation and grants, and ensures that records are in order and reports are submitted on time.
  • Performs other duties as assigned that are appropriate to the position.

 

 

Qualifications – ideal candidate must have the following:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree with major or minor in education or education-related field from an accredited college or university
  • Demonstrated experience in grants management
  • Familiarity with professional accreditation of teacher education programs
  • Professional experience in P-12 and/or higher education settings
  • Understanding of P-12 school systems and current issues in education
  • Excellent scholarly writing and oral communication skills.

 

Additional preferred qualifications:

 

  • Graduate study in education, data analysis, or project management
  • Management of complex, federal and/or state-funded programs
  • Knowledge of Ellucian / Banner software and accreditation related assessment reporting software, such as Chalk and Wire

  • Ability to envision comprehensive, long-range plans or goals and to identify, evaluate, and allocate necessary resources
  • Strong capacity to engage collaboratively with others in teamwork to reach stated goals
  • Capacity to effectively oversee work done and decisions made by an individual or a team
  • Ability to perform work according to precise specifications
