William Paterson University invites applications for a one-year replacement position at the Instructor or Assistant Professor rank in the Department of Biology, beginning Fall 2022.  The position requires teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels and participation in support of students’ academic development.

The Department of Biology is located in the College of Science and Health, one of four comprehensive and diverse colleges at William Paterson University. 

 

The Department of Biology offers Bachelor of Science (BS) programs in Biology and Biotechnology, as well as a Master of Science (MS) in Biotechnology.

Reporting relationship: Department of Biology Chairperson

 

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Teaching responsibilities include but are not limited to undergraduate and graduate courses within the approved curriculum, including online, hybrid and in-person modalities. Candidate would be expected to teach in the core areas of general biology and animal physiology. Teaching expertise in candidate’s area of expertise relating to courses in human physiology, neuroscience, developmental biology or immunology is preferred. Teaching at the graduate level may also include courses in the candidate’s area of expertise relating to the biotechnology graduate program.

 

  • Participation in activities of the department, college and university, including program and course assessment, support of student retention and enrollment and, potential committee service were applicable. Additionally, potential to serve as a research mentor to undergraduates is available.   

 

 

Required qualifications:

 

  • Earned doctorate in the life sciences or related discipline, ABD acceptable.
  • Documented evidence of excellence in undergraduate teaching.

 

Preferred qualifications:

 

  • A demonstrated record of scholarly activity.
