Institutional Effectiveness

William Paterson University invites applications for the part-time position of Data Analyst within the Office of Institutional Effectiveness, Assessment, and Planning (IE).

 

The part time Data Analyst will work on reporting, business intelligence, and data management projects.  The successful candidate will be part of the team providing actionable information to campus stakeholders to facilitate evidence-informed decision making.  

 

The position affords flexibility with an option for 100% remote work. Hours of work are also flexible, with the caveat that a substantial portion will be during US Eastern time zone work hours to allow for interaction with team members. There is an expectation of working 15 and 20 hours per week.

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to

  • Create, execute and maintain IE ad-hoc and point-in-time data extracts as required.
  • Develop visualizations and presentations to support data-informed decision making.
  • Provide data support for predictive analytics and data management projects including extracting, combining and standardizing data from varied sources and source types.
  • Understand functional business processes and identify areas for improvement in data quality and business rules for reporting.
  • Assist with the documentation of data sources, data management, and data projects.

 

 

Required qualifications

  • Experience in data analytics, management information systems, computer science, statistics, or related field.
  • Knowledge of and experience with data manipulation and reporting using SAS, SQL or the equivalent.
  • Knowledge of business intelligence and data visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or the equivalent.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications.
  • Experience with enterprise information systems and data warehouse resources or the ability to learn quickly.
  • Ability to work effectively in an online setting using standard platforms such as Teams and Zoom.

  • Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral format.
  • Capable of listening without bias to competing wants and needs and contribute as a member of a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize work to meet staggered deadlines.
