William Paterson University invites application for the full-time position of Director, Graduate Programs.

Reporting to the Dean of the Cotsakos College of Business, the Director, Graduate Programs provides holistic and empathic support for the academic and personal development of graduate students throughout their life cycle in the Cotsakos College of Business aimed at creating memorable and positive student experiences.

 

The position works collaboratively with the Office of Graduate Admissions, Registrar’s Office, Career Development Center and other campus offices in the development and implementation of initiatives to enhance students’ educational experiences at William Paterson University.

Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Advises incoming and current MBA students, online and in-person, on course selection and registration, including suggesting course plans and issuing course waivers and overrides? advises on-campus MBA students before they make a transfer to the WP Online MBA program? advises Graduate Certificate students on course selection and successful matriculation into a WPU MBA program.

 

  • Prepares reports for department chairs to determine sufficiency of sections for all on-campus MBA courses. Compiles, summarizes and analyzes statistics to make recommendations.

 

  • Establishes and maintains relationships with offices across the University to address MBA student issues including academic performance, probation, academic integrity, financial barriers, health and wellness challenges, student visas, and others.

 

  • Manages the process for graduate student credit-bearing internships, independent study registration and other special registrations.

 

  • As the liaison for MBA programs between Graduate Admissions and the Cotsakos College of Business, participates in graduate recruitment and registration events. Assists with determination of applicants’ eligibility for enrollment in specific programs.

 

  • Assists the AOL Coordinator with assessment of graduate programs and continuous improvement initiatives for graduate programs.

 

  • Develops and promotes 4+1 agreements with appropriate departments across campus.

 

  • Advises potential 4+1 and 3+2 transfer BS/MBA students on business course selection. Assists qualified BS/MBA students with matriculation to MBA program.

 

  • Monitors graduate programs and consults with department chairs, program advisors and related committees to ensure that graduate programs are responsiveness to market demands.

 

  • Performs other duties as appropriate to the position.

 

Required qualifications

  • Minimum of Master’s degree from an accredited college or university

 

  • Three (3) years professional experience in an academic setting, career services, human resources, marketing or related field.

 

  • Knowledge of and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office software, Enterprise Systems (Banner or Workday preferred) and social media channels.

 

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule which may include evening and weekend assignments.

 

Additional, preferred qualifications

  • MBA or Master’s or doctoral degree in a related business field.

 

  • Experience in graduate advising and career services in a college setting.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex material in both written and oral format in a way that constituents will understand meaning and intention.

 

  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for self-development including learning to apply new technology to streamline processes and solve problems.

 

  • Ability to prioritize work, set reasonable and attainable milestones, and stay on timeline to achieve agreed upon goals.

 

  • Capable of developing and sustaining relationships with a diverse group of individuals who may have competing wants and needs.

 

  • Able to stay motivated and effective when working independently.

 

  • Able to lead by example when working in a group

 

  • Demonstrated entrepreneurial and intra-preneurial mindset with an enthusiasm for experimenting with new ideas and innovative programming.
